Some Thoughts On A Thursday #11

Oh hello there! I’m sad to be back to the real world after our trip to Mexico, but happy to be sharing my thoughts on this first Thursday of March!

  • So remember back before I left when I laid out my big plans to work out while on vacation? Yeah… that didn’t happen. At all. My friends and I were talking before we left about putting workouts together to do while we were down there, but late nights turned into late wake-ups, and working out was definitely not happening in the heat of the day. One of my friends did some runs on the beach, but there was no way I was going to join him in the blazing sun, even if I could dunk myself in the ocean afterwards. Honestly, though, I’m not upset about it. If it had worked out it would have been great, but I was on vacation to have fun with friends, and I definitely accomplished that.
  • I also had plans to do more blogging while in Mexico, but I only managed to post twice over the ten days that we were gone. I had actually written and scheduled a couple of other posts, but there’s some sort of problem with my WordPress iPad app and the posts disappeared in to thin air. Thankfully I had copied and pasted them into a note just in case something like that happened, otherwise I would have lost them completely! Oh technology, sometimes you’re so frustrating.
  • I’ve been doing a little bit of graphic design work lately and I never realized how hard it is to find free backgrounds and graphics to use. Since I’m not getting paid for most of the stuff I’m doing I’m trying to keep things on the cheap side, so I was pretty happy when I discovered Dealjumbo.com. I found their freebies section the other day and proceeded to spend the next two hours downloading pretty much everything on there. Some of the fonts and textures have already come in handy for a website I’m designing. If you are into design at all I’d highly recommend it!
  • I won a one month membership through social media to a gym that offers all sorts of different classes, which I’m pretty excited about! The membership started this week so I’m trying to figure out when I’m going to go to my first class. I don’t expect their spin or yoga classes to measure up to my favourite studios, although who knows, maybe I’ll be pleasantly surprised, so I’m most excited to try barre and some of the strength and TRX classes. Barre is kind of intimidating to me for some reason, but I do want to give it a shot this month!Brier men's curling
  • I am a huge curling fan, and by fan I mean I’m totally obsessed. I don’t really know how I got into it, but I’m pretty much glued to my TV every year when the men’s and women’s Canadian championships are going on. The preliminary rounds of the Brier (the men’s championship) start today, and I’m so excited! It’s an amazing field this year with most of the top men’s teams in the country so it should be a pretty fun tournament to watch. I went to a couple of live draws last year, but this year I’ll just be watching from the comfort of my couch.

That’s all I’ve got for this Thursday. Thanks for hosting as always, Amanda!

Thinking Out Loud Thursday

Have you ever tried barre? Tell me it’s not as scary as I think it is.

Do you work out when you’re on vacation?

    1. I have a lot of friends that have tried and love barre. I would say go for it, it sounds like it would be a lot of fun!

      1. Yes, I’ve heard good things too. Thanks for the encouragement

    1. I always say I’m going to workout on vacation too, yet it never happens. Last time I was in Mexico, my sister and I did go to the gym one day, but working out in humidity SUCKS when you’re not used to it. Same thing goes for when we are in Florida visiting my in-laws…I can’t handle much more than walks, lol.

Definitely try barre! I love it, although I haven’t gone since I did a baby & mama class over a year ago! It’s one of those classes where you don’t really sweat so you think you aren’t really getting in a good workout, but then the next day muscles you didn’t even know you had are screaming at you! 😉

      1. Ugh, seriously, working out in humidity is the worst. I can’t handle it either!

I’m definitely going to give it a shot. It sounds both awesome and terrible at the same time 😉

    1. I’m glad to hear there is a fellow curling fan out there! I don’t know too many! Do you play?
Also, I love barre, I got a membership to PureBarre, it’s an online portal that has tons of videos you can try at home!

      1. I know, I don’t know many either! I’ve only played a few times but I’d like to play some more. Glad to see another thumbs up for barre!
